Joseph A. Wineman was born and raised in Pittsburgh PA. He attended Washington and Jefferson College on a Reserve Officers’ Training Corps 4-year scholarship. Graduated with a BA in Biology Cum Laude in May 1977. While at W&J, he met and married his wife of 45 years, Cheri. In September 1977, he started dental school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine having been awarded a 4-year Army Health Profession Scholarship. While in school he served as the class treasurer, created and managed the class note service for his class as well as the two subsequent classes. Dr. Wineman graduated in the top 10% of his 143-student class in June 1981. The following month, Dr. Wineman became Captain Wineman when he joined the US Army Dental Corps at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonito TX. After 2 tours of duty, CPT Wineman was selected to attend the Advanced Educational Program in General Dentistry -2 years at Fort Bragg, NC. MAJ Wineman deployed out of Germany in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1990-1991 where he served as the Officer in Charge of the Enemy Prisoner of War clinic at Camp Brooklyn. A glutton for education and training, LTC Wineman obtained a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Baylor University in 1997 summa cum laude. Dr. Schlesinger is a fourth-generation native of Las Vegas. He graduated from dental school at The University of Connecticut and medical school at the University of Texas, Houston.
